MARINA SIRTIS
Marina Sirtis, the Betazoid Counselor on the Starship Enterprise, was
born in East London to Greek parents, and brought up in North London. She attended the Guild
Hall of School of Music and Drama and shortly after her graduation, she became a member of the
Worthing Repertory Theater, where she portrayed Ophelia in "Hamlet", among other classical roles.
Marina has worked extensively in British television, in musical theater and in
repertory companies throughout England and Europe. She appeared in the feature-film "The Wicked Lady" with Faye Dunaway and lent her vocal talents to a
European tour of the immensely popular "Rocky Horror Show".
During the third season hiatus of "Star Trek: The Next
Generation", Marina returned to England where she appeared in the feature-film,
"One Last Chance" for the BBC, which was shot on location in
London and Windsor. As well, Marina played a cameo role in the film, "Waxwork II: Adventures In Time".
Marina has several distinct accents that she devised to get away from the
criticism of her English accent. As a member of the 24th Century, geographical and nationalistic
barriers are not so evident, the reason why Marina was probably allowed to keep her accent.
During the show's fifth season hiatus, she married musician Michael Lamper in a traditional
Greek ceremony and appeared together at the "30th Anniversary of Star
Trek". |
