DECK SIXTEEN

Picard, Data and Worf lead a security team through the corridors of the Enterprise, ready to battle the Borg and to defeat them by puncturing the warp plasma. Data informs Picard that he feels a little anxious at the moment and Picard orders Data to switch off his emotion chip. While they are chasing down the Borg, the team encounter Dr. Crusher's team who comes out of an access port. She informs Worf that she lost a twenty-first century civilian and that they must look out for her.

MAIN ENGINEERING

As they approach Engineering, they see Borg hives and the Enterprise corridors slowly Borgified. The Borgs ignore them, as they pose no threat to the crew. When they approach the doors to Engineering, they find that it has been locked. Thus, Picard tries to override the doors, and Data covers for him. Just as Picard presses a few buttons, a Borg notices their actions, and soon a fire fight occurs within the narrow corridors.

RETREAT

The Borg soon adapts to the phaser rifles and thus the Enterprise's crew must regroup. While backing off, Picard manages to get the door open, but a Borg pops out, but Data is quick as he breaks the Borg's neck. Before Picard escapes, Data is drawn into the Borg's hive, Engineering. Picard sees one of his crew Borgified and thus shoots him down. Meanwhile, as they are escaping the Borg, Picard is kidnapped by Lily, the woman from the 21st century. Lily is frightened as hell and wants a way out, but isn't sure whether or not to trust Picard. Soon Picard asks her to follow him.

PRISONER OF WAR

Inside Engineering, Data is tied up to a table and the Borg is tempting to break into neural net for the access codes to the ship. Data slowly informs that their attempts to break into his neural net will be unsuccessful. Then a voice informs Data that they are brave words and only words. The voice is feminine and it tells Data that she's heard those words before, from hundreds of species, across hundreds of worlds. Soon Data feels pain as a Borg drills inside his dead.

STAR TREK?

Not realizing what's going on board the Enterprise, Commander Riker, Troi and LaForge try to get Zefram Cochrane to believe their story by showing them the Enterprise in orbit around Earth. He is shocked to learn what his telescope shows him and believes his counterpart is playing a trick on him. Geordi assures him that everything he sees is real. Soon, the crew of the Enterprise starts to tell him his story. They tell him that he changed everything once he conducted the warp flight; poverty, disease, famine will all be wiped out within the next decade after his historical flight. After they tell him, Cochrane gets the grip of things as he suggests that they are some kind of astronauts on some kind of Star Trek. Geordi is shocked to hear him say that but he reassures Cochrane that they are running out of time and requires Cochrane's answer. Cochrane answers "Why not."

DECK ELEVEN?

On the Bridge, a security officer informs Lt. Commander Worf that the Borg have stopped on Deck Eleven after taking control of half the ship. Worf is furious. Why stop there, unless it gave them tactical advantage. Soon their plans are to find out what the Borg is planning on Deck Eleven.

A STRANGERS TRUST

Meanwhile, Picard is being held at gunpoint by Lily Sloane who is afraid and does not know whats going on. Even though Picard tries to calm her down, she has her phaser aimed squarely on him. She demands that she is returned home and thus Picard leads her to a viewport to assure her that it is not possible now as she is above hundreds of kilometers from Earth. Picard soon tells her that she is onboard a Starship and life among the twenty-fourth century to earn her trust. Lily begins to trust Picard and thus puts the phaser down. Picard grabs the phaser and informs that it has been set to kill. Lily soon walks toward the window and wonder how they are able to breathe and fall into space. Picard explains that they are protected by a forcefield, a technology that won't be available for several years. Picard soon leads Lily out the door to battle the Borg.

THE GIFT OF HUMAN QUALITY

Data soon sees a head dangling from a wire and then automatically inserting itself to an awaiting body. Data asks who she is, and she replies that she is the Borg. Data states that is a contradiction as the Borg are not an individual conscious, but that of a million conscious all evolving as one. The Borg informs Data that he is in contradiction as he wishes to be human. The Borg soon moves toward him and Data realizes that he is feeling anxious again. The Borg have reactivated his emotion chip. The Borg soon blows on his newly grafted skin on his forearm and he feels a pleasurable sensations.

THE HOLLOW PURSUIT

Picard leads Lily down the corridors of the Enterprise and finds that the computer has not yet been broken into. Soon they enter a corridor full of Borg and Lily become frightened. After they reach the end of the corridor, Picard fires his phaser at one of the Borg alcoves, and soon two Borg's give chase. Picard and Lily make it to the Holosuite, where they run Picard's favorite hero, Dixon Hill. Soon the Borg break into the Holosuite and start terrorizing the Holodeck characters. Picard and Lily make their way toward Nicky the Nose and Picard grabs his tommy gun. Soon, he starts firing at the oncoming Borg's in pursuit, and soon the two Borg's are killed. After Picard kills the Borg's, he searches through one of them to find a neuro-processor, which will contain information the Borg has been receiving from the collective. While trying to find the neuro-processor, Lily sees Picard's uniform and Picard informs her that it was Ensign Lynch. Soon Picard finds the neuro-processor and doesn't like what he sees. He soon leads Lily and himself to the Bridge.

HERO WORSHIP

On Earth, Zefram Cochrane is having difficulty. Not because of his mission, but because of people from the so-called staring at him as if he was some god. Soon he disappears to have a couple of slug from whiskey, but is interrupted by Geordi, who wants the doctor's opinion of his intermix chamber reconstruction. Geordi soon says that he learned that from school, specifically the Zefram Cochrane school. Zefram is flattered to learn he has a school after him. Not. Soon Barclay, the holodictive character from the series, approaches Geordi about replacing the warp plasma with a copper tubing. Flustered, Barclay soon asks for the doctor's handshake to which Zefram irritatingly accepts. He asks if Geordi's men have to keep doing that. Geordi informs him it's just a little hero worship and frankly he can't help them. Soon Geordi points out that the area that they're standing on is going to be a monument in the future, where Zefram's statue is going to be. Enough of the hero-worshipping, Zefram makes an excuse to take a leak, which Geordi thinks there is actually a leak. Zefram soon explains he needs to pee, and Geordi takes it upon himself to think that Zefram has made a joke. Not used to the 21st century colloquialism.

INTERPLEXING BEACON?

Picard and Lily make it to the Bridge, only to be greeted by three pointing phaser-rifles from Worf, Hawk and Crusher. Lily is shocked to see Worf and Picard explains to Crusher that he has found what she was looking for. Worf curtly informs Lily that he is Klingon, to which Lily replies, "Cool." Soon Picard informs the crew that the Borg is planning to build an interplexing beacon right on top of their Deflector Dish. "Interplexing?", asks Hawk. Picard informs that the interplexing beacon will give the Borg from the 21st Century to contact the Borg from the 24th Century in the Delta Quadrant. Worf informs them that they must destroy the deflector dish before the Borg can set up their beacon. Picard says that they can't get to the Deflector Control or the Shuttlecraft and asks Worf if he remembers his zero-g combat training. Worf remembers that it didn't make him feel good. Nonetheless, Picard, Worf and Hawk head off for an airlock to take a little stroll.

RUNNING FROM HISTORY

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Geordi and Riker seem to have a problem with their soon to be historic figure, who haven't returned from his leak. Thanks to Geordi's technically advanced vision, they spot him hiding behind some bushes and taking a slug from his whiskey-bottle. So much for the historic figure.
