THE DREAM
Captain Picard is among the countless drones that
surround the Borg cube. Countless others have also been assimilated. Then a familiar voice
speaks to him, "Locutus". Picard wakes from this terrible nightmare, and gets up. He
goes to the bathroom in his Ready-Room to wash his face, but then realizes that something is
wrong. Something within his face writhes and he realizes that it is one of the Borg servos
which punches through his cheeks. Only a subspace transmission wakes him up from the
nightmares, when Admiral Hayes informs him that Iborg colony has been totally destroyed
and that long range sensors on Deep Space Five have picked up, when Picard intervenes and says
"I know, the Borg." Admiral Hayes is dubious how Picard knew. |
THE MEETING
Captain's Log: Stardate 50893.5. The day I dreaded
for nearly six years has finally arrived. The Borg, our most lethal enemy, have begun an
invasion of the Federation. And this time, there may be no stopping them. Picard
soon assembles a meeting with the senior staff. Picard informs that one ship is on a precise
heading to earth. Everyone is anxious to be in the front line, but Picard informs them that
their orders are to scout the Neutral Zone. Everyone is dubious and wants to know why, but
Picard strictly informs them that their orders stand, and the Enterprise heads for the
Neutral Zone. Riker soon asks why they are out in Neutral Zone chasing comets when they
should be battling the Borg. Picard explains that Starfleet doesn't want to risk Picard being
with the Borg again. They have every confidence in the ship, just that the captain is an
entirely different matter.
THE PRIME
DIRECTIVE
Picard soon receives word that the fleet have engaged the
Borg. Picard rushes out to the Bridge and soon puts Starfleet audios on speakers. The
Defiant, commanded by Lt. Commander Worf, one of their comrades, is among the
ones battling the Borg. Picard soon asks for the transmission off and when he can't handle it
himself, violates a direct order from Starfleet and heads for the front lines. Everyone obeys
with Data saying, "To hell with our orders." Picard orders Red Alert and everyone
to battlestations. He then takes his place on his chair and orders,
"Engage". |
THE BATTLE
When the Enterprise arrive to its destination, they find
the fleet heavily engaged with the Borg. Worf's Defiant is heavily damaged, and Worf suggests
that it is a good day to die. He orders the conn to set a ramming course, but the conn picks up
something on his sensors. He reports the ship as the Enterprise. The Enterprise draws the Borg
ship's fire and soon Picard orders Transporter Room Three to beams over their survivors. Picard
soon takes over the fleet when its flagship is destroyed. Picard orders every ship to fire on
the coordinates he relayed. |
MINOR VICTORY
Data confirms that the target indicated is not a vital
part of the ship. Picard says to trust him and when the fleet is ready, the fleet fires on the
heavily damaged Borg ship. The Borg cube explodes in a fiery blaze, but just before its
destruction, it releases a Borg sphere heading directly for Earth. Data soon reports that the
Borg sphere is heading for Earth, and Picard orders a pursuit course. Meanwhile, Lt. Commander
Worf comes onto the Bridge and Picard says, "We could use some help at
tactical." |
THE PAST
When they arrive on Earth, Data reports that the Borg has
created a temporal vortex and traveled back through time. It's population is nine-billion, all
Borg. Everyone is shocked, and Picard reveals that they went back and assimilated earth in the
year 2064, jeopardizing the first warp-flight test. Picard orders Lt. Hawk to enter the
temporal vortex and the Enterprise just passes through as the vortex collapses, and he must do
everything he can to save Earth and their own future. After the vortex closes, they see a Borg
sphere firing on the hapless earth. Picard fires on the sphere and it is destroyed
immediately. |
THE
DESTRUCTION
On the past Earth, the Borg sphere has seemingly destroyed
a small camp, where Dr. Zefram Cochrane and Lily Sloane were. Their is no sign of
them. A landing party consisting of Picard, Data and Dr. Crusher go in search of
survivors, and more importantly, Dr. Zefram Cochrane. They find no sign of them and Data
informs that they must consider the possibility that they were killed in the attack. Picard is
at the real Phoenix that embarked a whole new era of peace, thus the beginning of
Starfleet. Soon Dr. Crusher informs that a radiation leak is poisoning the room and thus
innoculates everyone. |
THE ATTACK FROM
LILY
Soon the away-team is attacked by a fearful woman who
assaults them with a primitive weapon. Picard tries to settle her down but to no avail. Thus he
sends Data, who will be unaffected by the deadly bullets, to contact the afraid woman. He jumps
forty-feet down the silo to the much surprise of a bewildered woman. The woman faints soon
after. Picard and Crusher goes to her side to give medical aid, but Crusher says her radiation
is too severe and must be treated in sickbay. Picard is about to object about the Prime
Directive, but Crusher warns she will remain sedated. |
THE DREADFUL
POSSIBILITY
Picard also informs Geordi to beam down the planet
with a repair team to begin salvage operation of the damaged Phoenix. Geordi in Engineering
leaves Porter in command, and asks him to find out why it's so hot in there.
Counselor Troi informs Picard that she cannot find Cochrane anywhere and Picard orders
her to resume the search. While Porter is scanning the Jefferies Tube for a malfunction, he
sees a shadow crawling through. He asks if anyone is meant to be in the Jefferies Tube, but is
soon met by the Borg's wrath. The lieutenant down below is worried and goes to rescue him, when
she too is met by the Borg's wrath. Soon Picard senses an ominous threat aboard the Enterprise
and checks to make sure if its alright. Worf explains that they are experiencing environmental
difficulties and the temperature have risen the last few minutes. Picard and Data return to the
ship, sending Riker to lead the away-team mission. |
THE INVASION
On the Enterprise, the powers fail, except Deck Sixteen
where Engineering is, and they realize that the Borg are attempting to break into their computer
systems. Picard orders Data to lock the access code to the computer systems with his fast
android hands. Data is successful and the Borg relentlessly give up. Soon power fails on all
decks and they lose contact with the away team. Picard asks Lt. Hawk what the exact temperatures
were and Picard echoes his answers, "Thirty-nine point one degrees." The exact
temperature of a Borg ship. Picard soon seals off deck sixteen and posts every security guards
to all access points. In Sickbay, twenty Borg is about to break into sickbay, when Dr Crusher
has no choice but to break the Prime Directive and wake up Lily so that they can get the hell
out. Crusher soon activates the EMH program to create a diversion. The doctor curtly
informs that he is not a doorstop but a physician. Crusher doesn't care.
THE RECONAISSANCE
TEAM
Picard assembles a security team to combat the Borg. They
have remodulated their phasers so that they can down the Borg, but Picard warns that they will
adapt quickly. Plus Picard informs the team that they mustn't hesistate to fire upon their own
crewmates who may have been assimilated by the Borg. Before they head off, Worf informs Picard
that he should return to the Bridge and mustn't get involved with their team. Picard curtly
notes his objection and heads off. |
OUT OF TIME
Meanwhile, on the surface below, Riker watches as Troi
gets inebriated. He is surprised and his voice cannot be heard thanks to a blaring music that's
coming from an old-fashioned jukebox. When he pulls the plug on the jukebox, he is met by a
hurtling bottle, from the same inebriated Dr. Zefram Cochrane. The drunken Troi introduces
Cochrane to Riker, to which Cochrane suggests, "Husband?" Troi answers no, to Cochrane's
surprise and thankfulness. Riker soon informs Troi that they're running out of time, and must
consider the possibility of telling him the truth. Troi says he wouldn't believe her cover
story and that she must try every counselling technique in her book, as time is at a minimum.
Cochrane finally finds the plug to the jukebox and music begins blaring again and Troi finally
relents as she is knocked unconscious. |
