MAJOR KIRA NERYS

Kira Nerys is probably the most pivotal character on DS9. Acting as liaison officer on DS9 to the Federation, Kira is passionate for her native planet Bajor, who had suffered immeasurably during the Cardassian occupation of Bajor. Kira also gave birth to Miles O'Brien's son in "The Begotten", after an accident on a runabout forced Kira to carry Keiko's second child in the episode "Body Parts". Kira also has a continuing relationship with Vedek Bareil (played by Philip Anglim) until his death in "Life Support".
